  1. While you’re at it, have you heard the version of “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” by Josh Ritter? It’s fantastic.
Oh, and you should check out the album “69 Love Songs” by the Magnetic Fields.

  2. Some of my favorite gifts have been mixed CD’s. I love the thought that goes into them and I also love experiencing new music.

  3. Teaspoon-No, I haven’t heard Josh Ritter’s version. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it at the library. Oh, and I have a mix someone made f just songs from 69 love songs…kind of a home-made best of, as it is not the best of that is in stores. Someday, I’ll buy the whole boxed set…

  4. I like this idea a lot.

I think I’ll post a romantic mixed tape idea, too. Credit back to you for the idea, of course.

  5. Do Ya Wanna has ended up on three of my mix tapes so far..never been able to stomach Rufus though…the Josh Ritter is news to me..thought I had all his stuff..

  6. The mixed tape is an art, John Cussack summed it up well in High Fidelity. I should make one for my sweetie, but our tastes, and languages, are far too different for me to be successful.

  7. Stevo…the language barrier may not be a problem. The mix is your expression to her, so it doesn’t have to be in her language. Plus, you can choose songs based on the sound of them, regardless of lyrics.

  8. I think i played with the High Strung some years ago… either that or i just saw them. either way, i ended up with a demo CD of theirs (i’m assuming they have an honest to goodness record out by now…) but i thought they were awesome! what was i doing at N 6 that night? this particular memory lapse makes me feel uber rocknroll, sheepishly so!
i haven’t made mo a mix cd in a long time. maybe this is a sign that now’s the time?

  9. Oh, and while I do like the song very much, I wonder if a song about giving head really belongs on a romantic mix tape. 😉 But hey, to each his own, right?

I think I’m going to start copying some of your blog entry ideas. I hope you don’t mind too terribly much.

  10. I was thinking about that…on my mixtape, chelsea hotel is there twice, and (do you wanna) come walk with me is there once, so there’s 3 references to oral sex! I wonder what that says about us?

Copy away! Hey, link to me when you do…we’ll generate cross traffic or something (my readership is down this last week and a half, from about 100 a day to about 50)

  11. Wow, I have never averaged 100 people a day. I think my best day ever was 102! Send some of your traffic my way!

  12. Mine dropped off last week, too, all except one day when it skyrocketed (for reasons that are completely mysterious to me). I think around a holiday, sometimes, internet use in general sorta slags off.

    That’s actually kinda encouraging.

    America unplugged.

  13. Well, looking back, mine’s more like 80 a day, but I had a few strong days in a row. I remember when I would get all excited over 30 in one day!
