Shut the Hell up, Lou Dobbs; You’re and Idiot!

Welcome to another installment of “Shut the Hell Up, Lou Dobbs; You’re and Idiot”, the blog post where I tell Lou Dobbs to shut the hell up and call him an idiot.

On Monday, October 15, 2007, Lou Dobbs, this fine news commentator, introduced the show just like any other day: with his head up his ass. He said this of Ahnold Schwarzenegger:

The governor of California apparently can’t decide whether illegal immigration is a good idea for California or not. Arnold Schwarzenegger, we will have some help for you and a special report.

Color me interested. I wanted to know what kind of hypocrisy the Terminator was spewing.

Later, Dobbs said:

Schwarzenegger in California, he is trying to appease both the pro-amnesty lobby and the opens border lobby and the border security advocates. He’s doing quite a job of it, too.

Oooohhh…I’m all tingly. He’s about to give it to Schwarzenegger, another republican doing the same thing republicans accuse the democrats of doing: pandering. Let’s find out more!

California’s governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is, again, sending mixed messages, if you will, on the issue of illegal immigration. Governor Schwarzenegger signed a law that forbids landlords from checking whether tenants are in this country illegally.

Yet, as Casey Wian now reports the governor vetoed another legislative initiative that would have provided financial aid to illegal alien college students.

OK….what about it, Lou?

So, Schwarzenegger’s hypocrisy is that he stands up against landlords asking citizens and resident aliens their citizenship status, something that violates the right to privacy of those who obey the law, while vetoing a law that would give taxpayer money to illegal immigrants?

SHUT THE HELL UP, LOU DOBBS; YOU’RE AN IDIOT!

I’ll admit it; there are plenty of politicians trying to play both sides of the issues. There are people trying to use the immigration issue to buy votes, some of which are illegal votes. There are problems. But Lou, you’re just stirring up a fight where there is none.

And you have me agreeing with another republican, and the Guvahnator at that! Why are you doing this to me, you hateful sack of puss?

Here’s the transcript!

Shut the Hell up, Lou Dobbs; you’re an idiot.

Welcome to the new feature at the Most High and Holy Church of jaynova. Here, we will be arguing with CNN’s Lou Dobbs, telling him to shut the Hell up, and generally calling him an idiot.

On the Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 episode of Lou Dobbs Tonight, the esteemed Mr. Dobbs, this fine news commentator, spoke of the story of the Bush Administration demanding that a illegal immigrant on death row be retried. This was because of an international treaty the US signed to protect the rights of US citizens abroad. Basically, if someone is arrested in a country other than their own, they must be informed of their right to see a representative of their own country, to ensure that their rights are not voilated. Lou forshadowed the story before the commercial break:

Then we’ll have a showdown with the Supreme Court over a state’s right to execute a criminal illegal alien who brutally murdered two teenagers. But President Bush doesn’t like that. The compassionate conservative darling president. And what in the world is he thinking now? You won’t believe it.

Later, he said:

The U.S. Supreme Court today heard arguments over the death penalty conviction of an illegal alien from Mexico in the brutal rape and murder of two teenage girls in Texas.

The highly unusual case involves President Bush. The president now wants to stop the execution of the Mexican citizen, even though President Bush presided over more than 150 executions while he was governor of the state of Texas.

My response? SHUT THE HELL UP, LOU DOBBS; YOU’RE AN IDIOT. The US signed a treaty meant to protect not only foreigners in the US, but US citizens abroad. If you think that it’s OK for Texas to say that international law does not apply there, then I don’t want to hear anything from you the next time Iran decides to hold Americans against international law or when Singapore decides that it’s OK to cane the living shit out of some American because it’s the provincial police, and not their version of federal agents, that caught him spraypainting*.

Bush’s record of executions as governor has nothing to do with anything. Bush is not saying, “Let the guy off the hook.” All he’s saying is, “He was not informed of his rights, and under international law, he must be informed. Therefore, he must be retried.”

Thanks, Lou Dobbs. You’ve got me agreeing with Bush. I hate you. 🙂

*Note…I have no idea how Singapore works…this is just a hypothetical example.

Looks like I got a paying writing gig! Won’t say too much about it, but it’s a 5 minute script geared towards children, and it looks like it’ll be fun to write!

Another Kucinich Article.

This one from The Socialist Worker online. It mentions the same media blackout of all things Kucinich that I’ve been highlighting, and says:

Nevertheless, like a scorned relative who always shows up to family functions, Kucinich refuses to disengage from the Democratic Party establishment that, as Clinton and Edwards attest, tolerates his presence only with gritted teeth.

Read it. It’s good for you.

Somebody Likes Kucinich!!!

Here’s a flattering story about Kucinich by the Chicago Tribune’s Ofelia Casillias. Everyone should read it because it’s not often that the media praises Dennis.

Newsflash!

This just in! The conservatives at Fox News don’t agree with Kucinich on the war in Iraq!

Well….duh!

And since when is disagreeing with foreign policy “bashing America?”

Surrender? But we won!

Posted in Kucinich, News, Politics on 11 September 2007 by jason

Lately, all over the interwebs (such as here, here, and here), I’ve seen that the urge to pull out of Iraq is concidered a “surrender” by the right. Surrender? But we won, didn’t we? By declaring victory, by its very definition, we can’t surrender.

Besides, I thought we had basically proven that our enemies were not in Iraq, and that we were invading it under false pretenses. But, wait….Bush still insists that Osama bin Laden and Iraq are connected! You know, because Osama couldn’t have mentioned Iraq because it helps to build his case that “the western world is at war against Islam”.

I’m rambling, though. I guess what I’m trying to say is that violence breeds violence, and that the Terror situation in the Middle East can only be solved with diplomacy. Waging “War on terror” is like a hunger strike against famine, or a telethon against couch potatoism. We’re just going in circles.

Um…let’s see. A political post without Kucinich? I’ll fix that.

Have a solemn September 11. Mourn for those that died, for the state of the world, and for the mistakes that both sides of the “war on terror” continue to make.

There’s Kucinich!

Finally, Kucinich gets a mention on the political ticker!

From the story:

But there are strong feelings against the Iraq war among Hispanics, so that topic lead the debate, with the moderators noting that two-thirds of Hispanics support a withdrawal from Iraq. Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich was loudly applauded for saying he would pull troops out.

Obama aligned himself with Kucinich.

hmmm. Not much to say, but at least he gets a mention.

A couple of weeks ago, The Boston Globe was far kinder:

DENNIS KUCINICH rarely gets much airtime in Democratic presidential debates. That was underscored recently when ABC’s George Stephanopoulos called on him in an Iowa forum to talk about God. Kucinich said, “George, I’ve been standing here for the last 45 minutes praying to God you were going to call on me.”

Those of you who know me pre-blog may notice that on here, I’m much more political that I have been in recent years. Let me explain:

A few weeks ago, I was watching The Best of The Awful Truth, the Michael Moore show that was on Bravo, with the otter. There were stories about how corporate interests were stopping people who pay for health care from getting it, of how vote-counters would rather break the law and refuse to count write in votes for a ficus tree than admit that the other candidate had been humiliated, and many other examples of how “the power” had been stolen from the people.

During this viewing, as usually happens when I watch stuff like this, I had a panic attack of sorts. I started shouting and breathing heavily as the bleakness of our country’s future washed over me.

The next day, I decided to do something about it. I went on-line to see how the candidates were going to fix things. Many of the Democratic candidates had voting records that were basically consistant with the world in which I wanted to live. Some of them were a little “flip-floppy”, but were better than who we have now. Only one, however, was taking an active role in these issues: Dennis Kucinich.

The Conyers/Kucinich Plan for Healthcare(H.R. 676) would solve the healthcare problem and save the 47 million uninsured Americans.

H.R. 1234 would bring our troops back from Iraq.

Kucinich is moving to have Dick Chaney impeached.

Kucinich has a plan to save our educational system, to restore our civil liberties, and protect jobs.

Not only that, but Kucinich has a history of being “not-for-sale.”

(My emphasis, in case you’re just skimming.)

So this is what I’m doing to make a difference. I’m urging you all…don’t just rely on the debates and trust the lip-service that the candidates give to the issues. Don’t believe the news media that ignores certain candiates in favor of candidates who are photogenic. Hell, don’t take my word for it. What do I know? I’m have my degree in English, not Poli-Sci. Instead, look at what the candidates are doing RIGHT NOW to fix these problems. When you do, I’m sure you’ll come to the same conclusion as I have.

Spread the word; it’s the only way anyone will hear it.

Where’s Kucinich? III

Posted in Conspiracies, Kucinich, News, Politics on 8 September 2007 by jason

I’ve searched through the CNN Political Ticker blog, and there’s no mention of Kucinich in the last week, despite his trip to Syria. I did a Google search from the CNN Ticker page, and besides his own self-promotion, the first thing that came up was this Time magazine article, from back in March.

Read it and enjoy.

Oh, and for those who don’t think that he’s got “it”, check this out (from the article):

…less than two years ago, his office was visited by a stunning 6-ft.-tall Julianne Moore look-alike 31 years his junior, a Brit who was working for the American Monetary Institute. After some smooth wooing on his part (“I gave her a copy of my Department of Peace legislation and my e-mail address”) and one date (at [Shirley] MacLaine’s house), she agreed to marry him.

He’s a muthafuggin P.I.M.P.!
